Swim Day

Our day started with breakfast outside on the patio, next to the rock wall and the water fall that was not working this morning.

 

 

 

The steps were quite steep and Kylie Gail cryed that she was not allowed to climb.  But Bobby turned away, once he saw the steep steps.

Bobby Adoption Day

 

We started out the day with a little feeding of the fish after breakfast.

 

 

 

We then went back to the adoption office for our final interview.  We then went up to the Notary office and signed the forms.  We waited for the guide in the notary office as it was more comfortable than the adoption office.

 

 

 

Today was a little easier, because Bobby was not tearful or upset.   But, it was harder because Bobby is impulsive,  pushing all the boundaries including the personal ones.  He has begun to talk non-stop mandarin with Kylie Gail.  This makes Lilly Rose feel left out, and brings on other survival behavior in her.  Of course Nick does not like the in your face style of Bobby's communication.   (which is actually similar to the way that Aaron used to be about Nicolas, Ha Ha) 

There was no ceremony, no pomp and circumstance.  It was just done.

Bobby Day September 3, 2012

We received Bobby today.  He was reserved at first then generally acted like he was ready to leave.  We walked back to sit down and look at the stuff we brought him.  He simply put it away.  The guide brought us the donation certificate and a couple of other items from the nannys.  There was a booklet with pictures of the SWI and an undeleveloped roll of film.  Then he became a bit agitated and took off with out giving notice.  I raced after him.  It turns out, he was just going to the bathroom.  It was Hot and uncomfortable in the building.  Within minutes of being there we were sweaty and generally wringing wet.   There were quite a few people receiving children but only 3 couples in our group. 

This is our guide, Simon, and the orphanage rep.  They said that Bobby is a very good little boy and was well liked.  They did not recommend that he return to the orphanage to say good by as it was felt that he would become too upset.  In this picture he was going to try to follow the guide out so we basically blocked his view of her exit.  When he realized it he did become more up set. 

A few minutes later we left the center and went back to the bus and rode back to the hotel.  But first we went to the store and one person from each family went in to get what ever they needed.  I went into grab some snacks and water.  When I came back onto the bus, bobby seemed relaxed and no more tears.

The real turn in his personality came when we pulled up to the hotel.  His eyes were wide and his mouth was open.  He appeared to be impressed with our hotel.  Well I will agree to aceptance where ever it comes from.


I have tried to post the video but for some reason it is not taking.  Maybe later I can try to post the best  of the day.

Arrival in Guangzhou

We arrived in Guangzhou and was met at the airport by our new Guide, Simon.  We will be staying at the Garden Hotel, a large, beautiful facility in the business district..  We decided to trade rooms with the Morin's, as they really wanted a king size bed.  Their room had a crib, which came in handy, as Kylie fits well.  With Nick on the air mattress and Lilly on the Sofa, this was a good set up for us.
As true to expectation, the beds are rock hard, but the room is spacious and is actually 2 separate rooms, with 2 TVs.  We finally got into our room and in bed, it was after 1 am.

 We met with our guide Sat. morning  and took a walking tour of the area next to the hotel. It is a business area and has quite a few places to eat and shop.  I am still partial to Shamen Island and will miss not staying there this visit to China.  We have enjoyed having time to hang out.  We receive Bobby on Monday afternoon.

Leaving for Guangzhou August 31, 2012

Kylie Gail is doing so well blending in with our family.  She is brite, happy and fun.  She is loving and fearless in her approach to walking and just being a average kiddo.  She speaks both dialect and Mandarin  which we are hoping to preserve with lots of exposure to the language.

We leave for Guanzhou at 3:00.   So, we decided to go to the mall and shop.  We ran across a play area for the kids.

Flight delayed by Hours, much boredom

 

We arrived early to the airport.  But the flight was already delayed by 2 hours.  We pulled out the books, crayons, and stickers to keep the kids busy.  Nicky enjoyed entertaining us.

Lilly spent some time with the Morin Family doing word searches.

 

 

 

Then Lilly decided Ken needed some accesseries.  Such patience.

Sight Seeing August 30, 2012

It rained today.  The belief is the typhoon reminant is traveling northward through China and dumping loads of water.  We went to the Three Gorges Dam Museum and  the former palace of Chiang Kai-shek.   We also shopped in the stores there they have local art and embrodery.  I did not take too many pictures as we were in areas that photos were not allowed.
